Bite-sized
In the context of this programme, this phrase is used to mean learning
which is broken down into small and manageable chunks.
e-tutor
An online tutor available to assist and support you with your learning
or assessment. In the case of Learning for Living you may be
assigned an e-tutor by your college or other centre.
Hyperlink
A link providing you with an easy way to move between different pages
on the same website or between different websites.
Icon
A symbol or picture which provides easy navigation through content within
a website.
ICT
An abbreviation of 'Information and Communications Technology', which
is the use of computers, technology, and communications devices.
Interactive
Two-way responses to actions. An interactive website involves the user
and changes content according to information exchanged, selected or inputted.
Internet connection
A computer or computer network accessing the Internet.
IT
An abbreviation of 'Information Technology', which is the use of computers
to manage information.
Offline
Not connected to a particular computer, computer network or the website.
E.g.: You are 'offline' when disconnected from the Learning for Living
website.
Online
Connected to a particular computer, computer network or the website. E.g.:
You are 'online' when accessing the Learning for Living website
by an Internet connection.
Online folder
This is where your responses to activities and tutor-marked assessments
are saved and which may be accessed through the Learning for Living
website.
Website
A Website (sometimes just called 'site') is a collection of Internet pages
about a particular subject, managed by a person, group or organisation.
It can contain text, colour pictures, video and sound.
